Evening all
Shortly I will be doing a two week road trip of Scotland and would like to compile a list of Indys roughly along my route 'just in case'.
If I post below the basic route I will be taking, can any of you recommend the name and contact details of Indys along the way please. The stealers will be my last choice should I have a problem.

Leaving Surrey taking the M25/M40 towards Birmingham. Then the M6 to the west of Manchester and up to Carlisle. A74 towards Lockerbie and the M74 towards Glasgow.M80 towards Stirling then the M9 and A84 into Calander.
Four night stay in Calander then onto Fort William. From Fort William over to the Isle of Skye staying near Edinbane. From there to Strathcarron/Loch Carron. Onward to Fort Augustus/Loch Ness, then to Pitlochry and finally down to Edinburgh. From Edinburgh if I have a problem the AA can take me to see Olly at PCS:D
Many thanks

To be honest Scotland has very few Mercedes independents other than Merparts in Glasgow. There are however many small independent garages of the "old school" all over Scotland who are remarkably resourceful in dealing with any make of vehicle they come across. They have to be if they are the only garage for 50 miles around! Needless to say they won't have Star so really up to date electronic stuff is probabaly out but they will do their best to help you if possible . They are remarkably un-fazed by exotica. One local garage back home that used to perform my MOT's complained that the worst problem they had the week before was getting a Ferrari Testa Rossa onto the ramp for an MOT. Because it was so wide it was a bit of squeeze --- only they used slightly more colourful language!;)

You have forgotten the east coast! From pitlochry head to glenshee, braemar, balmoral, ballater through to Aberdeen! Stay in ballater for a night or two and visit Loch Muick!

No criticism of your desire to be prepared, and maybe it's more a reflection on my lack of planning, but I would happily jump in my ten year old MB (with FSH but not seen a service for eighteen months now) and drive to Turkey without worrying about getting there without a breakdown.
In terms of preparation, I would make sure I had my mobile with me (everything's on the internet nowadays) and a credit card. And a toothbrush.

Without wishing to sound like they are keen to profit from me, I find my MB dealer very good at keeping me informed of things that are likely to need attention, so I never worry about the cooling system or the electrics or anything else, for that matter.

Can't beat a bit of optimism :D

Merparts. Port Glasgow. 01475 741236.

Isn't there also a well known expert MB master engineer with fully equipped workshop in Bathgate ? :D

More seriously , if you have any minor problems along the way that just need the use of some tools to fix , there are quite a few club members scattered around who I'm sure would be happy to help , myself included .

Well you haven't added your usual heavy handed superlatives to taint your recommendation.

So clearly you're learning. Well done indeed! :thumb:

I'm still trying to figure out the asterisks though. You're one short for it be genius. And BTW cynical is spent without the 't' and the 'p'.

Thank you and I apologise. We were never taught these things at Hutchie grammar in Glasgow.

Thank you kindly. This forum always comes up trumps and that is solely down to its kind hearted members. I even had a member PM with his phone number if I need any help.
