My wifes car A170 1999 had a puncture and when I tried changing the wheel I could not find the Key for the locking wheel nut. Firstly where is it normally kept as I have looked everywhere.
Secondly is it possible to buy another from MB or another source ??

Thanks

You can buy from MB. Probably need your V5, passport etc. I think they are kept in the rolled tool holder - where your wheel wrench etc is.

If you get desperate, your dealer is the best bet - or mobilo if you have it. There are only about 20 or so combinations.

Dealerships usually have 2 sets of keys, one in the mobilo van and one in the workshop. They will try the keys on a lock until one works, this will give them the number of the key and you can order a new one, they're about £20 each IIRC.

Depending on how friendly they are you will either have to book it through the service dept (so a 2-week wait or something then!), contact the mobilo number and pay a call-out fee (even though you're parked next to the van at the stealership) or they will sort it out for nothing. You could try the parts dept as their pay isn't commission-based etc and they usually look bored :)

Good luck!

Providing that u have got the original lock nuts from factory than DC will know what key is required from the vin/chassis no. of the vehicle... That way instead of trying all 20 odd combinations u can order ur own key...

i had this problem a while back.... called the AA - first guy had to get home on a flatbed... second guy who was going to tow me to the dealer was quite clued up - got his tools out and key tapping the locking nut till it gave way and opened.

Might try that, the recent MB locking nuts are not as easy to crack.

All sorted, took a trip down to the dealers and they sorted it all out. Just for reference it was MB in Whitefield Manchester.
