Hi Everyone,

I'm Ahmet from Essex (not originally, so no stereotyping!) :bannana:

I've just recently sold my 2005 (987) Boxster S and so I'm in the market for a new toy. Which, basically ... married with 3 kids and a seven seater Subaru on the drive, that's essentially what this next purchase is going to be. Something to replace to Boxster that was a perfectly great car, but after 18 months I got bored!

Prior to the Boxster I had an 2006 Yamaha R1 for 4 years .... but then decided to be sensible, hence the Porsche.

Anyway, enough of the intro part .... what am I looking for? I'm specifically looking for a 2005 - 2008 SLK AMG ... ideally in Silver, but I'm not set on that colour. Having been on previous owners clubs before, I know these cars are mostly looked after, so any members here selling, I'd be interested to know? Failing that, I'll browse around the classifieds section shortly.

Hello from me, a currently non Mercedes owner ... but hopefully soon to be!

Thanks

Ha ha ... of course!

Is there any tips people can share with the SLK AMG's ... (R171) what do I need to look out for, do's / don't etc.

There is a guy on here called Gaz with an SLK 55. Hopefully he will see this thread and can share his experience!

He's had his quite a while I think.

Thanks everyone .... can anyone tell me what head unit this is called please? I've seen various ones online, but I'd like to know the exact model so I know what it's capable of doing?

Talk to forum members Richard and Alfie from www.comandonline.co.uk.

They can provide advice re (and also supply and install) both original MB COMAND units and aftermarket head units.

They did a great job retrofitting COMAND to my car.

If buying aftrrmarket unit, take advice first because there are some great units out there and some that are total cr@p.

Welcome to the forum...

Thanks Mark, but I already have I (believe) the comand unit ... it's the one pictured above. I'm trying to identify what options are best with my current setup, but I'll give those guys a call.

Thanks!
