Looking to upgrade to 350cdi

Loved my v8 cls500 and although i only do 8,500 miles a year i worked out over the 10 years i intend to keep my e350cdi the difference in running costs between it and the 500 is just over 13 grand-that's a nice chunk towards my next car;)

Exactly. I do waay less that 12k a year, and up to a point, I don't give two hoots about fuel economy. I do care a whole lot about other running costs though and also about refinement.

So those that do no miles do as well to look at diesels. Added to that, from an estate point of view at least - if you are not specifying a new car, then up to 90% of those on the used market are diesel-engined. As there is always a wide variation in specification, if you are after certain options, you are going to be severely restricting your choice if you disregard diesels purely on the basis that you don't drive the car a lot.

Exactly my thoughts and your so right with regards to estate models.

Mine is a 2010 265 bhp CLS 350 CDI, and the onboard trip computer has never been reset. I think it was showing 34 MPG at 40MPH which it averaged over the last 3 years and 50,000 miles..
