Lorinser SEC - interesting colour?

Saw this one in the classics: Mercedes Benz 500 SEC Lorinser For Sale (1986) on Car And Classic UK

Not sure if the ad's photos are colour-tweaked, but the red on this SEC is one of the best I've seen. Really suits the SEC's elegant shape.

Is that a standard MB colour? Doesn't look like Signal Red, Barolo Red or Pajett Red to me.

23-30mpg? maybe if you just sit and look at it all day long, 15-20mpg is more realistic i think

From the photos it almost looks like Peugeot Diablo Red metallic....is it really a flat red?...doesn't look like signal red to me, unless its been adjusted on Photo Shop or something along those lines

Agree - Signal red can look fantastic, but rarely on a big MB. This is certainly unfaded and looks to be a deeper finish and metallic.

(It's just for interest and future reference.)

Deffo a MB colour. Its the original colour I wanted my 500E in but couldn't find one. Almadine red I believe its called.

I dont think its Almandine...unless they have been playing with the colour filters on photoshop or something.

There are actually 2 different shades of almandine red available
Could be that is the difference?
