Loss of power on left hand bend

Hi, I wondered if you could help me with a problem.
I have a year 2000 CDi 208 Mercedes Sprinter van with around 100,000 on the clock and have recently noticed a problem with loss of power, but only when the steering wheel is turned slightly to the left. It seems quite pronounced when coming in or out of a corner or gradual bend. When the wheel is centred all works well again, incidentally, I get no problems when the wheel is turned towards the right.

The steering wheel needs just a very small movement to the left to make the power fall away

At what speed?

At a guess it as to be something to do with the engine moving to the right and pulling something.

Would there be any kind of steering / inertia sensor linked to the engine management system/ fuel system?

The problem does seem to be worse on a sweeping bend and not necessarily a sharp bend or corner

It's almost as if once the steering wheel moves a fraction off center to the left the power fades, the engine does not stutter but the power fades momentarily as if the foot has been taken off the gas and brakes had been slightly applied for a second or two

Check the brake lamp switch isn't set too sensitive as that could cut the throttle.

Also check the column mounting bracket hasn't come loose as the switch is mounted on the same plate, I think.

Not sure where the brake lamp switch is but will have a look round the steering column as you suggest. Thanks

Ah can i guess you have ASR ? And looking at your front tires are they they same size ,.as in same amount of wear on them ?

Thanks for your help, I am not aware that I have ASR on my year 2000 sprinter, sorry to be so dumb, but what exactly am I looking for?

Heres my short story... I had a puncture and it ruined the front tire. I fitted a new one. So n/s was new o/s was part worn. When i turned left or mostly right, the car thought the wheels were spinning and cut power, due to the mismatch in wheel speeds caused by the new and part worn tire. It only happened over 40 mph because up to 40 it was in automatic traction control. after 40 it switches to anti slip mode. I have a button to turn of anti slip. i also noticed when turning into my drive at lock that it had funny slipping. mine is year 2000. maybe urs is similar. as soon as i fitted new tires it stopped.
