Lovely original W124 230CE coupe

not much more than its already up at. Poverty spec and over the mystical 100K mileage.

Still, its a nice car and will probably serve the new owner very well as there is plenty of evidence of maintenance.

Looks pretty good, only the spec letting it down a bit.

Nice hassle free stylish motoring for not a lot of cash :)

Why say it's poverty spec?

All I can see it's missing leather and air-con. Just wondering, are these expected on a W124 like this one?

Cloth trim, no air con and only the 4-cyl engine. They're the basics where it's lacking.

Most people look for higher spec in other areas as well - metallic paint, heated/electric seats or sportline options too etc.

Doesn't stop it from being a nice car for someone, but ultimately affects it's value by quite a lot.

I'd agree - it's about the right price now (£800) - I like it - I prefer cloth trim (don't like leather) - air con in a car this old would be unlikely to be operating now, without megabucks spent on it (I speak from experience!)

I'm always puzzled why sellers mention that the original first aid kit is present - the bandages / dressings in there must be well past their use-by date! Give me a new first aid kit every time!

What's With Starting Every Word In The Advert With A Captial Letter ?! :dk:

There are a couple of similar W124 coupes on eBay, most seem to be well looked after cars with few owners and loads of history. A friend runs a W124 E200 saloon on an M plate, bought it for peanuts and it has an immaculate service history and low miles. It drives exceptionally well and still looks the part.

That car has no spec at all, nothing is extra :)

What attracts me to this 20 year old car is that it is just a plain vehicle, not one packed with electrical goodies to go wrong.

The mindset of a motorist 20 years ago is so different from today as now even near basic cars have sat nav, climate control and possibly cruise control as standard.

I consider that the car for sale is a good local runner and with regular servicing will probably outlive most modern cars of today.

What's a 'Heritage' grille ? That's just a boggo standard one.

Come along, Howard - keep up... Old running joke originating from one of The Boss's earlier efforts! :D

As far as the coupe is concerned - it is very early indeed - no wood trim on doors. Then, everything would have been extra. Have to agree with w124nut's sentiments.

Have to agree.

Complicated cars are probably one of the main reasons why the secondhand values are not what they used to be - far too risky a buy secondhand with all those expensive ECUs and nobody locally that knows how it all works.
