Just had my car back from its MOT - Passed with flying colours (Front tyres still legal Shaun :) ) and I didnt need a new cat!!! (loose heat sheld making the noise!).

Anyway where was I, I want to lower my car to the 'Sports' trim spec, & not like David_h's (no disrespect).

What do I need? a set of springs? anything else? I have recently had 2 new rear dampers fitting if that means anything?

Cheers!

Edit: Wrong bloody forum

Count the dots on your spring perches. If they are more than 1 dot then you can drop your car by about 5mm per dot by simply buying new perches. New perches are only a couple of pounds each (labour to fit will be more than that).

erm, I dont know Jack about springs etc, where am I looking?

At the top of the springs?

mmm, will have a look tomorrow...

How much would springs be anyway? is it worth getting ones from the stealers? I dont want it to look 'Barry' though :)

Glad to here it. :)

Money for the lowering now you dont have to get new boots :D

So if I go for the new springs option, is that all I need, springs? Which do I need?

With the age of the car would probably be wise to get new shocks as well. Thats what I was going to do had I have kept the C180.

Oh dear, does this mean I have to do the w202 EPC suspension marathon again?

VIN please!

I got a 23mm drop from changing Shocks to Sachs supertourings and Number 1 spring pads! I dont think my is too low but at least its not on stilts anymore and the ride is better than before beause the shocks work properly! Jimmy can get the shocks at excellent prices and has also gone through the shocks, springs, spring pad thing! I did a big thread on suspension somewhere..........

Seen seen these:

HERE

Would these be a straight fit? no other parts required?

why not just go for some H&R springs with a thicker spring pad, this will improve your handling as well as not being too low! Mines got the lowest spring pads and a ton of audio in the back hence it looks decked, but with the bigger spring pad and no audio, it would look subtly lowered.

I fancied an H&R cup kit but would fit with thicker pads because the cup kit apparently lowers by a lot. One of the benefits of thicker pads is reduced road noise transmitted through the chassis into the cockpit.

Where do I get these H&R's from? are they universal fit? How much etc etc...

Im still none the wiser as too what I need!

If you go for Sport springs, go for no1 pads anyway - that's how mine is. Standard Sport looks too high still.

Mine only grounds out or with 4 or more people and I have only ever felt the harsh sensation of hitting the bump stops with 5.
