Hi
I'm about to remove the rocker cover on my M102 W124 coupe, in order to get it powder coated along with the air box lid. Is this fairly straightforward? I've located the 4 stud bolts are these the only thing that are required to remove it (I would have tried removing it but it was too hot still). There appears to be an oil breather pipe that connects to the rocker cover and the air box does this just pull off? I've also ordered a replacement rocker cover gasket in preperation from the dealer.

Cheers

Chris

Managed to remove the rover cover, however couple of annoying things. One I broke the breather hose (is there a way to remove these without breaking them?) and two one of the rubber bushes that screws into the cover which the air box bolts onto broken bit stuck to the rocker cover. Is there anyway I can get this out or am I just going to have to live with it?

You may be able to glue the breather pipe together with a suitable glue and perhaps re-enforce it when you put it back on with a cable tie or similar- or buy a new one=expensive! [ they do go brittle with age] Make sure you don't damage the internal plastic baffle. as far as I know the rubber mount+stub are glued/bolted onto the top of the cam cover

Thanks, took the cover to the powder coasters today, only to be told you can't powder coat magnesium. They didn't even want to shot blast it. There's another place I'm going to try that does bead blast and see if they can help me.
