My mate needs a new MAF sensor for his 2004 C180 Kompressor (W203). Any idea what sort of price he should be paying for a genuine part?

Are you sure it needs one? They are very reliable on that engine.

Not sure Olly. He's taken it to a local German specialist(I did suggest you but he didn't want to travel that far). The engine management light has been on for a while and they diagnosed it at £78 per hour to be the MAF and a split inlet manifold pipe.Think they want to charge him about £500 plus VAT for the pipe and MAF??

Don't change the maf. Change the pipe first and get the fault memory erased. The pipe is about £7 and no more than 30-40 mins fitting time.

See how he gets on after the pipe has been replaced.

Thanks Olly. I will let him know. Much appreciated. Any idea what a MAF would cost?

Here we go....

Siemens VDO Air Flow Meter

Was £246.00
Now £188.40 Save 23%
Forum Price: £184.50

However, as Olly & the team have advised the error is very generic and the split pipe, would often throw up the exact same error as a faulty MAF.

Hope that helps!

Pat

What a helpful forum this can be :)

Turns out he was charged about £249 for the MAF. He had a B service, split pipe replaced, new oil, air, fuel and cabin filters and new spark plus and got a bill for over £900. Nice of them to mention the split air intake hose which was very apparent and their failure to clip the locating tabs in. I told him he should have gone to PCS. Live and learn. He will see you next service Olly :-)

What a rip off

A main dealer would have been cheaper!

Most probably. That's why we not only use PCS for great prices, but for their honesty and totally competent service and knowledge. I really struggle to trust and have confidence in anyone else.

Email me their invoice. I will double check the official labour times.

Sorry Olly, only just seen your reply. Currently away on my tour of Scotland. Will try and remember to send it over to you when I'm back. Thanks mate
