Magno paint, what’s it like to live with?

The Magno matt paints are starting to grown on me, particularly the Selanite Grey. I’ve seen a few C63s in MB showrooms and they do look good but I’m not sure what they are like to live with day to day. I’ve watched a few YouTube videos about cleaning and the need to avoid “polishing” the paint surface in any way. I also assume that any repainting would be expensive.

I’d be interested to hear from anyone who has Magno how they stand up to day to day use, cleaning etc.

I'm not sure if this is relevant for a large surface like a car but a while ago I looked at a Harley Davidson with this type of finish. I asked the salesman to be honest with me (always the optimist) as I'd come back and give him a hard time about it, he said there were mixed feelings about it. On my way out I spoke to a guy with the finish and he said it was a bad decision of his because when filling up with petrol if it spilled or overflowed it marked it. There were also issues keeping it looking nice like a special wax that he didn't get on with. I like the look of it though not sure how you would get on selling it on though.

I looked into it 2 years ago and gave the pass to a car with white matte designo paint. You will find a few threads about it.

Is it offered on lesser MB cars , A class B class diesels etc. ? if not that will probably mean its high maintenance for people who either won't do to many miles in their car or are so rich as not to care.

Just a thought.

I looked at a 507 which had magno paint.
It’s lovely but, any stone chip or scratch on the paint and the entire panel needs to be sprayed as nigh on impossible to match or blow in.
You could clear wrap the car but that will add to an already high purchase price.
I think the Matt is good for a very occasional use car but not a daily/frequent driver.

And if you enjoy washing/waxing your car that’s a no no so you will have to sell your zymol

That’s sorted it for me then regarding matt paint. As is due to rain later today it’s into the garage with my tub of Zymol and plenty of polishing cloths, always a good way to pass the time when it’s raining :)
