I've had a 06 C220 CDI for a few weeks now but have been waiting for the dealer to get me the handbook.
The car is an auto with the Classic/standard/manual (c/s/m) gear button. How does this work? I can't figure it out.
My previous cars have been very mechanical manuals so this is a bit new to me.
At the moment the car is always in C mode.
The D- / D+ options I see change the gears up/down but in C mode I seem to have to change down first in order for it to be able to go up.
Could anyone who is familiar with this sort of box give me a quick idiots guide in how to use it?
Thanks in advance.

The modes are Comfort, Standard, Manual. Comfort omits 1st gear and lowers the gear change points, standard is, well..standard, manual gives full control to the driver.

Do you have buttons on the back of the steering wheel, one each side?

I thought S=Sport, also if mines in S it starts in 1st gear, if in C it starts in second.

S = Summer / Sport / Standard - Starts in 1st change points at max revs
W or C = Winter / Comfort - Starts in 2nd change points lower
M = Manual - Total driver control (within safety limits)

I thought you only had M if you had paddles / buttons?

The fact nothing changes in the display would suggest something is amiss. (yes, I've read your post on the other forum!!)
