Hi again ive being on the internet all night trying to find out whats wrong with my car and most likley culpret is the mass flow sensor now i need to get one so could anyone point me in the right direction of where to get one thanks very much i really appreciate it

Bosch Service Centre will supply one cheaper then MB. Avoid imitations from Ebay.

quick MAF/MAS test

Hi Japimport,
Just a quick test I found when I was having MAF problems.
To check if it is the MAF at fault:
Remove the pipe with the MAF & put 2 strips of masking tape across the edges of the meshed part to leave a strip about 1/3 the diameter uncovered across the centre. (This concentrates the air flow past the sensor)
Replace and see if it makes any difference to performance.
I tried this on my C180 & it was like someone had just turbocharged it!!
I tried cleaning it with Isopropyl alcohol but it made no difference so I replaced it & the problem was fixed!

hope this helps if your'e not sure whether it is the MAF which is faulty!!

Hi chap,

going through exactly the same with my W163 at the moment

Trawled the net for days and found a few MAF retailers

after many phone calls, most of whom were simply breakers yards

found a company i have to say thus far has given outstanding service

the MAF was £95...NEW for a bosch type
this is complete with 3 year warranty

well worth a visit.......independant garage wanted £185 +VAT to supply or £345 +VAT fitted!

give them a try....very knowledgable
