Hi guys, its all been a little long winded this morning trying to sort this out with Goodwood, sorry this is late, but can confirm the two dates, 29th April and 13th August are secured in our name, as post heading. but a couple of hitches.
I have not paid the deposit, as I,d thought they wanted, they want the deposit when I sign a contract, which I knew of, but its contents are not what I was initially led to believe. The contract is basically a cancellation by us penalty, We pay the deposit when the contract is signed, its in the post to me now, however, if we cancel within 8 weeks of the date of event, I as the signer, will be libel for a 50% charge of the whole cost, (£3000), if cancelled within 4 weeks the whole amount is due (£6000).
Now this does not concern me at all regarding August, we have 15 dediacated people, plus possible a couple of others and 8 months to enlist 10 other people, and sort the monies. I dont think thats a problem.
However Aprils event, 16 people plus 1 poss;, means we have got to be sure we are going with the numbers, (25) by middle of Febuary at the latest now. if its done, its no problem, but we wont be able to risk anyone pulling out. Unless someone has a better idea, the only way I can see this being done, is recruit the additional people we need to make the numbers by say early Febuary at very latest(4 weeks), one way or other, (outsourcing as needed, hopefully for my part some more MBs), and then everyone must pay the full amount by middle of Febuary, I can then pay Goodwood early to ensure their paid in full, and no bounced cheques or lack of funds issures which would have servere consquences to all of us if it happened two weeks before the event date, when they would normally require final payment.
I am open to suggestions and ideas, regarding this, but bear in mind it will be me that will be at risk, and to be blunt about it, I am expecting all you April attendants , to be backing me up here.
In regard to payments cheques on route to me, dont worry I am not off to the Maldives in Eco class, or buying a new CF diffuser for the car! I will not bank your monies till we agree this issure with the April date. Beninlux may have routed monies to me via another route, again I will return the monies as the cheques, if we do not get this resolved.
Be intrested to hear Aprils peoples thoughts. At least the dates are secure for the moment.
Spoke to the Fast Car mag today, they are provisionally intrested in covering Augusts date, but want a few more details, inc the forum link, I will deal with that in the next few days. The Mercedes enthusiasts mag also partial intrest, but one page only, but very helpful ediditor.
Think theres been a couple of the forum members offering to come down and take some photos of the day,thinking we should ask someone if theyed be prepared to do this.
