Changed my E55 estate for - an E55 estate yesterday :p

MB Direct do a 30 day / 1000 mile 'quibble free' exchange - for any car on the site of similar value. After running mine for a couple of weeks, I decided I wanted a newer one with more options.

The problem for both me and the garage was that they didn't have one in Manchester, and someone had put a deposit on the only other one at an MB Direct site in London.

When he took that one, I thought I might have to choose a different car - they had an SL55 and a couple of CLK55s, but I had my heart set on an E55 estate. Had they applied the terms strictly, they could have adopted a 'take it or leave it' attitude, but Mark, the Sales Manager, knows about customer service...

They offered me a '54 (one year newer) 5000 mile (7000 less) better optioned car - they took it off an MB exec, brought it up to M/cr for me to inspect, (no obligation) allowed me to keep using the first beyond the 1000 mile limit, fitted a garage door opener, Tracker and Nokia kit to the replacement, and I happily paid them £3000 on top of the original price.

Mark the Sales Manager and Sean Murray the salesman are top blokes - it restores your faith when you read all the (often deserved) crap heaped on MB sales / service. Definitely recommend them to anyone in the market for a change in the near future.

Some quick pics - will post in gallery in due course.

Well it saved you having to wash it Guy.

The deal is a cracking one, £3000 more for a year newer car with extra options, Well done.

It looks very smart, but as you said, you need to adjust the MPG figure and soon.

Regards

Very nice ... gotta love those 200mph speedos .... looks just like the one in Maff's CL 55 which I had a ride in today :D

Drool, drool, envy :)
Hi Guy,
Mines got a slidey out floor thingie, do you want to swap??

I do love the E55AMG but unfortunately it is not a practical option for our individual circumstance.

How long will you be keeping this beautiful flying machine??

Just noticed where you store your loading 'bits'. Ours are stored in the right hand rear side type pocket?? I will see if I have a picture

Brilliant car.

Congrats Guy, the back with the tinited window looks fab. You'll be getting to know your local petrol station chaps quite well, I seem to be visiting them every day at the moment! :D

Nice move Guy - great way to get an extended test drive, before finding the exact car you are after! :D Sounds like a great deal for just £3k, and good idea to get the toys you want, especially of you like the car enough to keep it for a while.

Happy motoring, and get working on that fuel economy!!

Cheers.

Guy, do you mind me asking what options this one has your original one didn't? What options didn't you want to be without?

Thanks to all for congratulations & comments:)

I'll keep it until the good sense of buying the CDI version overwhelms me!

For some reason that area is covered in the AMG - will investigate!

I didn't want to be without a sunroof, though I still am! Felt I couldn't turn this deal down, though - over the first car this has

  • Load restraint
  • Parktronic - other had a retrofit version
  • Dynamic & Comfort ventilated seats
  • Privacy Glass - other had blinds
  • Rear Airbags
  • Harmon/Kardon surround sound

There are one or two changes since the last model, Comand mp3 playback works on the changer - DVD/mp3 more reliable in the single slot too; Bluetooth; will post more info as I learn!

What a gorgeous car mate, and sounds like a cracking good deal too, nice one :bannana: :bannana:

Yep I dealt with Sean Murray recently when I bought my 04 SLK 320.....top bloke and wangled a few goodies for me.
