I've got an AMG driving experience in a couple of weekends time :bannana::bannana::bannana:

Any tips for visiting MB World? How long should I allow to look around? What are the highlights?

Planning to spend most of the day there. I guess we'll get there 1030-11 and my drive isn't until 3PM. Will I be bored waiting or is there really lots to do and see?

If you plan to have lunch there you won't be bored as that will kill and hour. Might be worth booking the restaurant as it can get busy.

I went a few years ago and if it's still much the same I'd recommend you fill in one of the cards by the door when you first get the for draw to go in the passenger seat of one of the AMGs when they do the display. Regardless of what your personal 'go' is like, sitting next to some lunatic holding the car sideways inches away from several others doing the same thing is not to be missed.

There's also one of those 4D shows that takes you through building a car like you're the car which is worth seeking out, seemed more intended for their VIP guests but you can usually find a 'nice man' who'll let you in.

They have mini lectures going on all the time too, the one about Formula 1 was quite good and all the staff seem very knowledgable.

Isn't tons to do but you won't get bored in an over lunch visit as you have planned.

As I said, this was a few years ago so there may be far more there now.

Id say take your own lunch or go to the cafe (not great) but there may not be place to sit, or book the restaurant.

Taking lunch into account, arriving at 11 seems fair. Also depends on how you are whilst looking around museums, I tend to whizz round quickly so tend to finish it in no time.

You may want to book to do other things

Brooklands Museum is right next door and definitely worth a visit if you've got time

As above, it's an interesting place but a fraction of the size of the one near Stuttgart.

Second the idea of going into the Brookland museum if you start getting bored!

I reckon there's at most 2hrs worth at MB World (excluding eating) so recommend the Brooklands museum next door as well. I ate, had a 30mins track experience, looked around MB world and completed the purchase of a vehicle (including p/ex handover and their 1 hour handover of my new car) in around 4 hours. I enjoyed every minute of it and had hoped to visit the Brooklands museum as well, but in the end decided I'd better get on with my 4hr journey home.

If you're being driven by an MB Stig bring a change of underwear :D

+1

Deffo worth doing this, been to MB a few times and always find myself going into Brooklands. Worth paying the entry price just to stand on the banking. Really eery place when its quiet.

Yep, especially the little one who is apparently quite well known for being more Stig than most. You'll never forget it though.

Another vote for Brooklands Museum next door also worth thinking about getting a meal there as its much reasonabaly priced

I did a track and a 4x4 experience on the same day... was still only there for around half a day..

Weekdays are much quieter, only disadvantage is that the 4D show wasnt working on a weekday and place felt a bit empty.

Next time I go, definitely want to visit brooklands museum and track.

That does sound like a lot of time (even allowing for lunch) TBH.

I called in one weekday morning after I'd stayed overnight in Weybridge after a do - it seemed rude not to pop in as I was so close! - and felt I'd exhausted the wandering around thing after an hour or so. YMMV, of course.

Cheers guys. Will definitely keep Brooklands in mind.

I tend to get bored and move around museums etc. quickly so maybe we can scope the place when we get there, look around Brooklands then head back for the driving and more of a look around MB World.

Looking forward to sampling an AMG

Can't be any quicker than my CDI surely. ;)

I've been there several times, always enjoyed it immensely, and I would thoroughly recommend the museum too, if you have any interest at all in aircraft and aviation.

However, the biggest surprise on one visit was the ML experience. Forgive me, but as a Discovery 3 (and 2 before that) owner, I admit I had always regarded the ML as being something of a Chelsea tractor. An hour or so on in the ML350 put that misconception to rest. An awesome vehicle, offering a fabulous mix of competence and refinement.

Now, if they offered the same experience in a G-wagen..!

Hope you have a great day out!

(If you decide to make a night of it, the hotel next door is pretty good, but my advice would be to try to get one of the larger upgrade rooms, and don't be late for breakfast at the weekend...).

Well that was a brilliant day out. We didn't get there until about 1130 and didn't have time for Brooklands but did see all of MB World apart from the cinema (wanted to, but knackered so headed home at about 5:30).

Wifey really enjoyed the passenger ride I bought her and I absolutely loved the E63 I drove. I need an AMG in my life. I also fell for the CLS Shootingbrake. More space than my C estate but it felt sporty in the drivers seat.

Too small for me but liked the new A class too.

It was well worth the visit.

Thanks for the tips :)
