mCar UMI

Well i have seen that a new version is out v0.99 but i cant see any fixes! On the other hand, playlist (CD1) playback is very sluggish and after a few clicks of the FF button it automatically sends me to songs (CD5)! Very poor performance i have to say!

This is a slightly large video i made, i could start listing problems but i think a video shows how all these bugs go on quite better!

Packaging is off course not an issue, whats inside is what really matters thats why i said the bad thing is the lack of a proper manual! Functions have to properly stated, navigation through the menu etc.

Enjoy and let me know!

Some more problems:

Callers name wont show up, just his number

When you activate Siri, it shows like a call to the last dialed number on Comands screen (Not so much of a problem but it would be nice to see it getting fixed in future version)

Sometimes without any reason songs sound distorted or with a bit of echo

During song change you here the one being changed with a "slow" "delay" effect (should catch that on a video to show you what i mean

One more thing i noticed is that the Detail button is missing!

I would also like to add that i had this idea of USB Mass Storage being supported, i have seen it in the manual which is located here but also i think i did see it in the past in the description comandonline.co.uk has for the product, which now does not mention it!
But this is also what i wrote in my 1st post back then before i make the purchase!

Now i have to admit that when you connect a usb flash disk nothing happens, it seems that mcar goes on a loop of restarting all the time with the flash disk connected! (v0.99)

The Manual says:

Features:
 iPod/iPhone Media Support
 Portable Media Player Support
 Mass Storage Device Support
 Bluetooth Stereo Audio Streaming
 Text to Speech interface
 Bluetooth Hands free Interface
 Phone Device Interface
 USB Charging Support

Hi,

The quickest way to get support on this is to contact us directly. Grateful for the feedback but have to say that we havnt seen problems like this in any of the other installations we have done.

Can you firstly please download and install the latest firmware on the mCar and the iphone/ipod. Frequently iphones and ipods leave processes running in the background. A complete power cycle of the device fixes this.

I will talk with the developers over this and we will respond quickly.

unable to load from phone to umi

is there something I need to do to make this happen?
it tries but gets nowhere
it seems to be otherwise fully functional

Firstly, make sure you have the latest firmware (see mCar Installation, Manuals & Updates | Comand Online Ltd )

As you are having USB problems, I would suggest plugging this direct into the USB port on the mCar

Then, get a 2GB or so empty reasonably new USB flash memory stick and put 1 MP3 file on it.

Assuming that plays OK, try plugging back in USB extension lead and USB stick into that.

I suspect either USB stick or USB lead is your problem here, but get to the latest firmware release as we're at a known position then.

Cheers

Mic Placement

Hello I recently bought and installed this on my wive's CLS. Really like it so far but I would really appreciate some pointers. (Btw I am on the latest FW version and loaded a fitting config file)

I'm getting echo when calling to the car (I can hear my self speak with some delay which is somewhat distracting), anyway to improve this? Mic placement? (I have mine sitting by the lower left corner of the windshield)

Also when using the iPod on Artists and selecting an Artist, how do I go back to see the list of Artists again?

Thanks in advance.

Hi
a) I have never seen a case of echo before, you could put the microphone up by the mirror instead, however before you move it, just try and see if it happens with a different kind of telephone.
- also can you confirm that you were no where near the car when calling in (i.e if you were in audio range of the car, then this would happen)
b) "Backup" is done by holding down the << for a couple of seconds

I hope that helps, do use the contact form on our website and we can help you more quickly.

How well do these interface in cars prewired for a phone? Can the fact-finding mic and controls be used?

Factory mic can not be used. The integrated ones (like mCar) use all the controls. The 'existing' phone controller gets bypassed (or head unit gets confused!)
