Memory Card Reader

Can anyone help please. I have a Belkin card reader that supports multiple card types and is USB 2.0, when i plug it into my laptop it locks my processor, so i bought a USB 2.0 cardbus card and plugged the reader into there with the same effect, so thought reader was duff, plugged into my mates tower and works fine. Any suggestions for a reader that works with Toshiba laptops as i need to post some pics of my car. I am stumped.

Have you tried this card reader on your laptop via a *powered* USB hub?

Quite often, laptops cannot provide enough power for these external USB devices. I'd suggest you borrow a powered hub from someone as a test to see if its the cause.

BTW, what OS are you running on the Tosh and is it USB 2.0 or 1.1?
