Has anybody seen a drivers memory seat retrofitted to a W210?

There is a big height difference between my wife and I, and as we both drive the car regularly was wondering if fitting the seat was a viable option?

That would be quite an expencive mod ....

you would prob need off the top of my head ...

new door card with space for the memory seat

Memory control units

New seat frame with all the memory motors in it

New looms

The small seat control panel and the wooden surround for it too.

Easier to move the seat :)

Ohh , and maybe a new steering columb :)

You would want a used memory seat of any description complete with motors and base ready to fit your car. If the leather doesnt match then just take it from the old seat.

You need to upgrade the controller functions and any panelling that goes with it. The looms and cables are no big deal.

Hi Fuzzer,
Out of curiosity are the wiring looms different for every model? Or are they all mass produced and you just connect the wiring for a particular option into them?

I am NOT disagreeing with you at all. I am looking at this from a costing at production type question.

Mercedes-Benz are generally made to order so it is unusual to get any two vehicles with identical specification, I would have thought economically it would be cheaper to make one loom with all the connectors rather than individual looms for individual cars?

I hope I have made myself clear, and hopefully you can understand where I am coming from? (Torquay in South Devon)

You are certainly a very useful soucre of information.

Nice speaking to you again,
John

I have often pondered to myself the same question ....

The cars in europe tend to have custom looms depending on what options you get , but the US spec cars seem to get a blanket loom.

Maybe someone knows the logic in that one .... its beyond me.

Thanks fuzzer,
I carried out the exact same modification many years ago on a Granada, and it was a straight forward job. Even the holes were pre-cut and I just pushed out the blanks?? Custom looms must surely not be cost effective???

I wonder if it is because we have RHD vehicles which would need a different loom anyway?

Thanks again,
John

Thanks Fuzzer and glojo,

I thought it would just be a case of finding a memory seat, the neccersary control unit and switches for the door (or complete door card)

Or am I wrong
