Hi guys just thinking to buy a s280 w140 or cl420 found a couple of them with low mileage in VGC and convert it to LPG any advise from someone who did it before would helpfull. Thanks in advance

There are loads of places around now, just use a well established company... We have seen many botched LPG installs.

The only thing to remember is that the systems are quite complex and as you are installing it in an old car, fault finding in the event of any problems can be made more difficult.

Prins VSI System with Valvecare. Have it not on the CLK but on a Jaguar S Type and it works well. Ment to be one of the best in the market. Have a look at Prins Autogas UK website. :thumb:

You don't need anything as expensive as Prins.

Although it is the Best and I've had experience of it on a Lexus LS430, the parts are very expensive and it's closed shop i.e the interface/software is expensive and complicated to understand and the wiring diagram is alot more complicated.

Get an AEB Electronics Based System

I have AKME Diego G3 on my W202 and King on my LS400...

They're both AEB Systems, very easy to fit electronically. Well marked, software is easy to use, easy to tune correctly without upsetting the petrol map.

Both Engines will be fine with LPG as Mercedes don't suffer Valve seat recession, Ford Zetecs(Including Jaguar V6s) and Japanese cars seem to have soft valve seats, this combined with bucket/shims that need period maintenance leads to burnt out valves, the Mercedes however is hydraulically self adjusting.

Get a cheap kit, a big donut tank and a £40 Flashlube kit.

Auto Gas LPG This is a very cheap website! I've used them many times, fast delivery.

I'm getting about 3mpg less than petrol. Performance wise, doesent seem to be much difference.

3mpg ( where 1 gallon= 4.5ltr)????? That is much less then a petrol (((((

There's less energy in LPG. Miles per kilogram is similar, but you don't buy fuel by the kg.

I saw a 22% deterioration with the Prins VSI kit on my 1.8 Mondeo (31mpg vs 41mpg), but it was still close to half price to run.

I've an LPG conversion on my C280 (M112 V6). It's an OMVL system with a Stack doughnut tank in the spare wheel well. I've had no problems whatsoever, the only downside being the relative scarity of LPG stations, the length of time it can take to fill and the range on a tank - 330 miles for 60 litres. I've never seen a subject that polarises people so much, but I'm happy with it that way. If word got out to the masses, the demand would go up along with prices.

3 miles per gallon less than what I get on petrol. Short runs 15 compared to 18 petrol to the gallon. Working out price of petrol to gas. petrol 37p per mile gas 24p per mile. roughly equates to 28mpg working on petrol prices.

Don't have that problem with the Jag.pulls like atrain on both gas or petrol. Could be slightly quicker on petrol. Must be to do with power of each car maybe?

Astimir still looking for swap!! ?
