Merc insults Jag

Like renault12ts it took me a while to twig it but i like it :D :D

An 'S' reg car should not be displaying black and white numberplates .

If it did happen to be a very early 350SL then it cannot have the 'S' plate .

The 350SL was the original model in the R107 lineup ( I think shortly before the 280SL ) and came out circa 1971 when the W113 Pagoda series was discontinued - so the very earliest ones ( on 'K' plates or threreabouts ) could have had silver on black plates .

The pre-facelift cars 350SL/450SL were replaced roughly halfway through production ( circa 1980 ) by the later cars 380SL/420SL/500SL .

Since 'S' reg would have normally been a 1977/8 or thereabouts car it would not be allowed the black/silver plates .

You cannot put a plate onto a car which would make the car appear newer than it is , so the car pictured ought to be a fairly late 350SL .

Reminds me of when we were racing the Jaguar IMSA cars against the Nissan opposition in the States. One of the team from the deep south claimed prior to the race that we were 'Gonna piss'arn the Nissarn':o
We did! It broke it's gearbox and it was raining Datsun cogs...!..:D
