Tier 1 warranty from Mercedes - any experiences of it good or bad??

Thinking about it for my C55

covers everything as a new car sale (roughly) not the cheapest tho by what ive heard.

One of the best warranties, but expensive.

I bought my 2004 CLK320 from Mercedes and got a Tier 1 warranty.

There have been no questions asked at the local dealership when they've had to replace a headrest motor and also the CD changer. Just got on and did it.

As far as I am concerned, a good warranty.

Tier 1 is as good as the new car warranty and approved used warranty. If not better - it includes MOT failure cover which paid for new discs on my C32!!

I've requested a quote for my C32. Always used to be £950 pa for my car.

MB just qouted me £960 for my W211 E55, was £1100 last year. As I understand it, if the car has a full MB service history, no inspection required, but if not, and the car falls within MB acceptable mileage, I believe they would want an inspection. But check, as I may be wrong.

Although not MB, whenever I have kept a car beyond year 3 I have taken the manufacturers extended warranty out - they are always seamless and as good as the original warranty in my experience.

Whether they are worth the money or not depends on how many problems you have had and how many you envisage. Personally, for peace of mind I would happily pay it.

Been quoted around £960 aswell. Tempted to go for it and then I can enjoy the car! It's had a Merc warranty on it all it's life and has full MB history - they haven't asked for inspection:dk:

Hi Tim - I bought my C55 from a main dealer. When the 12 month warranty ran out, I had no hesitation taking out a Tier 1 extended warranty. Cost me £780 with no excess but imo definitely worth it...

Just called about the MB warranty through Mondial Assistance.

It is indeed true that Tier 1 is now available for cars with up to 100,000 miles. It's possible to specify an excess too if you want one: up to £250.

For my W203 C32 AMG, the scores on the door are:

Tier 1 – £0 Xs - £1,149
Tier 1 – £250 Xs £909

Tier 2 – £0 Xs – £1,049
Tier 2 – 250 Xs – £839

Driveline – £0 Xs - £649
Driveline - £250 XS - £529

As I took out a third party warranty last year, this would be for a lapsed policy - no inspection required but unable to claim for first 30 days.

I'm probably going to go for Tier 1. Quentin Willson wanted £1300!!

Warranty Direct don't list the C55 and didn;t respond to requests for a quote.
Merc will therefore get the business

Just received the first call from Warranty Direct. Price drop immediately offered on SecureCare with £50 XS.

Have a guess how much.

Down from £1495 to £1245? Nowhere near.

Down from £1495 to £995? Warmer.

Down from £1495 to £745? Still need to try harder.

Down from £1495 to £650? Bingo. You've done this before.

Called back to say that I must contribute 30% of cost once I break 80,000 miles, but can elimate that for £50 extra on the premium.

57% like for like discount without me even asking!!

They still need to try harder though.

lol, when I was thinking of getting an extended warranty I phoned Warranty Direct and got a similar quote. I then decided not to bother and they kept on calling and calling back over the following weeks/months and we ended up around the £600 mark ( I can't remember exactly) but I still decided not to go for one, but it goes to show what they are willing to try on.
