Yes you have no dipstick and you will have to suck it out.

er you dont need to suck it out just remove the undertray and remove the sump bung:rolleyes:

As you may not have a dip stick you will need to measure the amout of oil you need and add it in.

I Believe you will need to add about 7 to 8 litres of oil.

When you drain the oil you will get out about 7 to 8 litres out.

Hi mine's a Nov 2003 E320 cdi and I want to suck the old oil out, please where on the engine can I insert the suction tube, bearing in mind this car has no dipstick
Many thanks for replies

it still has a dipstick tube to suck the oil out of, and it will be hidden under the black plastic cover that covers the engine

Never mind all this 'suck oil out' business, as phil said take down the undertray and get at the sump plug. The filter housing under the right hand engine cover might need the special Merc box spanner to undo. Measure what comes out then put in the same less a 1/2 ltr then check on the dash as to how much to add to level.

How will you know you have all the old oil out? Best to drop the undertray: but if you must the false dipstick and tube is under the right hand engine cover. 4 torx bolts.

I've never been a fan of changing oil by the suction method. Nothing to beat the old fashioned way of draining the sump. Just buy a new copper washer.

I couldn't agree more. The only way to get all the crud out is to drain a warm engine from the sump plug.

My original comment about suction was made because that is how the dealers do it.

If you need the filter box spanner Halfords keep them in stock for about a fiver, cheaper than on ebay.

Rather than pay almost £1 for one copper sump plug washer, plus postage from MB, I bought Qty 50 @ £4.25 inc vat. It saves if you do regular oil changes, like me. (Or you could anneal if desperate ! )

Mind you, the postage is high, so I bought a few more things from the CPC catalogue (Farnell Co.) that were included in the postage cost.
