Mercedes-Benz get-together in Gol, Norway 30. may - 1. june 2008

Thank you Frodes for a series of stunning photographs of Mercedes cars in some beautiful scenery. It looks as if it was an excellent event which is a tribute to the organisers no doubt. I assume you are the guy "behind the camera" so to speak. Do you or any of your cars personally appear in any of the photos so we can "put a face to the name" ? Thank you for a great post.

Hello.
This event was really stunning. Everything went just perfect. Even the weather was perfect. This kind of weather is not common here. Two weeks ago, on our national day, it accually snowed. It was the coldes 17. of may for like 50 years. This weekend, it was the hottest day recorded in may for over 100 years. I think the temperature went up to a +34 degrees C.

I've taken some of the pictures, but far from all of them. I am in the board of the club (now chairman), and normally, I take the responsibility of photographing all of the cars, to make sure the event is well documented, and also that we have pictures of the cars that win prices. This year, i "outsourced" that, because I got a lot of organizing to do.

Since my car got hit by a trailer at work some weeks ago, it is now being fixed up and give a respray. For that reason it did not attend, but I managed to borrow a '01 E220 CDI x-taxi. It looked like hell, but I got the price for "highest milage" (680.000 km / 425.000 miles).

This is me (sitting down). Terrible picture, but the only one I found.

What is so nice about this event is that it cover so many different persons and cars. I think the youngest attender was 3 months old. The oldest like 75 years.
The newest car was collected from Mercedes in Sindelfingen thuesday before the event. The oldest one, I dont know how old it is, but definitly not new.
The chepest car was the matt black 190E 2,3, bought for like 100£ (wich is nothing here), the most expencive ones are well over 100.000£ (not kidding).
There are 100% original cars, and there are almost 100% rebuilt cars.

The car I dream about. Absolutely mint condition.
(The word "mint" is used too often. Lots of people say "mint for its age" or something like that. This one really is stunning.

Not many 123s there, but this belongs to the old chairman. Really nice car. He has rebuilt the interior with 2-color alcantara.

Just ask if you wonder about anything.

None of the pictures load for me ....

Try again later.

They are on my private server at home, and I have a limit of not so many connections at the time.

When is the next one ?.....I'd love to come to one of these.....looks really good.

By the way what were those pics on a track.....do you have a track to drive on aswell ?

Looks like a really good event, and very well attended. I haven't been to Norway for a few years used to serve there for four months every year when i was in the Royal Marines. Glad to see that the weather was nice it was always 30 degrees below when i was there.

Might well return and pay you all a visit sometime.

Thank you.

The track was improviced. The owner of "Pers resort", Per himself make this arrangment very easy for us. The pictures only show some of the activities. Friday evening, we all gather around for a barbeque, and saturday evening, after the cruising, it is time for dinner. After dinner, it is time for the prices. If i remember correctly, it was 1. , 2. and 3. in the following :
124 , 210 , 211 , 201/C-class , Coupe/Cab/Roadster, "others" and best shine. We also have "best in show", longest distance traveled to attend, highest milage and "best classic".

Last year, it was no track-driving, more like a controlled burning on a big parking lot. That was the plan this year too, but friday afternoon, Per got a phone from the local police, so he had to improvice. Half an hour later, he had rented this track. It was very small for cars, but it was good fun to watch, and lots of people tried their cars. Accually, a 201 190E 2,3-16 had the fastest time around the track. Even beating a Corvette Z06 :D
