Mercedes Benz Independent Specialists - East Sussex 2010/11

thanks both, have emailed those 2 recommends for a quote....if anyone else has any suggestions I'm keen to get it done. MB's quote was ridiculous!

I've been using Alan at AJ Robertson in Hove for the past 1.5 years on a couple of W209 CLK320s. Very knowledgeable, although not always the cheapest, but I'm more than happy with the price vs standard of work

Seat belt issue.

Hi all, I did the plugs myself, new Iridium NGK's and running very smoothly. The oil change was done by National and was a bit hit and miss but all ok now. The best help I got for the other work was from Steve at Stevensons in Maidstone. They gave me a pretty good quote for all of the work. However, I am now stuck and can't drive anywhere because today I got in the car and the driver's seat belt was stuck. The mechanical arm just kept coming out and going back in again! I gave the belt a tug and it came out but with no tension and it wont go back in again! The belt is now fully out so I can't drive it. I have looked at many forums and it is a very tricky job to get the trim off and get to the seat belt tensioner or spring. I'm sure it's just a broken clip or something so I am loath to take it to the MB dealer. Any suggestions guys?
Many thanks.

I have always used Around the Benz, now known as ATB, out on the Ford Industrial Estate, near Arundel / Littlehampton.

Roger has worked on my car for years and always managed to get things sorted for less the the main dealers. I know some of the local garages make use of his services.

Indy near East Grinstead

I've used InAutos MB Specialists at Hobbs Industrial Estate, Newchapel, which is just over the border in Surrey (bit scarey I know), a couple of miles North of East Grinstead.

Pedro, the boss has encylopaedic knowledge. I've had them to service both SLK and C200 - uneventful, as services are when they go without nasty surprises, can't remember price but reasonable-ish and all service costs on website. Pedro always willing to discuss issues and good at explaining potential cost implications when dealing with unknowns, to help avoid nasty surprises.

Another time (admittedly Pedro wasn't around), they were unable to rectify electrical fault with indicator in folding mirror which might be reasonable, but then again, maybe not as it's a common enough issue.

John Haynes

I got my gearbox done at John Haynes in Worthing John Haynes Mercedes - Home . It was recommended to me and the service was spot on. Probably not the cheapest, but due to broken gearbox, was nearest. No complaints. They have some beautiful Mercs in there as well.

… Alan Robertson (AJ Robertson) a call. He's just of Church road in Hove, on Second Avenue. He's about as good as it gets.

A J Robertson Ltd Brighton BMW Specialist

They have a new site: <Mercedes Specialist | Brighton | A J Robertson Ltd>

I went there once, a few years ago, for a quote on something (probably for the 2000 E class that I had at the time) … I was pleased with their advice, in that they said it was probably not worth spending the money that might be involved.
