Hi everyone,

I've recently bought a clk320 cdi.
I got a friend to plug it into his computer as its running a bit lumpy and it came up with a faulty maf sensor. I've tried looking for a replacement but I'm really struggling I phoned Mercedes and they wouldn't give me a part number, just a price of nearly £400
I found one on eBay for a 270cdi for £25!
Any help would be much apresiated.
Thanks James

Mine is a 270cdi but am not sure if it works on a 320 too. But ask the mechanics if it works well then you may opt for that. However you could also use throttle cleaner spray to clean the maf sensor. It always works

Okay thanks!
I'll get some cleaner and give that a go. It's going into the garage next week anyway so ill get him to check.

Be weary maf sensors on Ebay. Some years ago I got one for my BMW E23, it was worse than the one in the car. Have look at Bosch web site. The maf sensor will probably many other makes.

Before the garage day try with sensor cleaner and see how the car behaves. Many have improved after cleaning the sensor

I had a faulty MAF sensor and I cleaned mine with circuit board cleaner, evaporation cleans the gunk off the sensor, after I'd cleaned it it never gave me a problem again

Personally I'd stick to acetone rather than an esther, because that's no subject to cleavage and hydrolysis.

Both are technically dipolar, aprotic solvents so good for removing both polar compounds (usually water-soluble) and non-polar compounds (not water soluble).

Yes I had a look on eBay and they are a few on there for over £200 it amazes me as the part can't cost more than a fiver to make! I spreyed some cleaner on it earlier and it seemed OK although it still took the second attempt for the car to start! I know one of the glow plugs needs doing do you think that could be causing that issue?

Does the car have a fault? Engine warning light on? This was discussed recently and generally mapped cars seemed to have this fault code but no faults as such.

The car doesn't have any lights on but when it was plugged in at the mechanics it came up with 2x glow plugs and a maf sensor fault. It's very intermittent wether it starts 1st time or 3rd!

Got my MAF sensor from Eurocarparts it cost £47 approx and was a well known make(Pierburg) cured problem of no power/kickdown. All sweetness and light then sold car in p/x deal.

I don't think that you can get a MAF on its own for the V6, you have to get the whole plastic turbo intake V/Y pipe, which has two MAF's in, hence the price.
