Mercedes Customer Service and SEC Code

So sadly I've decided to sell my C Class estate as the boot is not big enough.

Today I settled the finance agreement with Mercedes via the Mercedes Me login.

On trying to print off the service report to give to my buyer, I need a SEC code:

MB want me to send off photographic ID and a copy of the V5 document to prove ownership.

I've just settled a finance agreement, can provide date of purchase etc details from the V5 but they want it posted

Since I've had the car I've had it serviced away from the man dealer so I don't have a SEC code.

Is there a quick way of getting one as I'm selling the car this week.

Only if you have the one of the latest mB service sheets and at the bottom of the page at the footer there will be a sec code
 
As above - the SecCode will show at the bottom of the Digital Service Record that you received from the dealer after that last service.

There have been 4 or 5 services carried out by Mercedes before I purchased the car.

So I don't have a service invoice with a SEC code.
 
Just reread your post... the car wasn't serviced by an MB dealer.

Did the garage who last serviced the car have access to the MB Digital Service Book? If so, then the garage should have provided you with the Digital Service Record (even if it's not a main dealer), and it will show the SecCode.

If the garage that you used for the last service did not have access to the MB DSB, then the service won't show on Mercedes me portal anyway. In this case, presumably you can show the buyer a copy of the invoice.

But ultimately, if you don't have a copy of the Digital Service Record for the last service, then you can't get the SecCode, and you'll just have to follow whatever process that MB customer services have in place for obtaining a copy of the service history.

In theory, any independent specialist with access to the MB DSB (including some forum members) will be able to get a copy of your car's service history, but in practice there are privacy issues involved which is why you are being requested to prove that you have the right to obtain that information.

Also, what services would you expect to see recorded on the MB DSB? How many dealer services did the car have before you took it out of the dealer network servicing?

If you received a printout of the service history from the seller when you bought the car, then it will still be valid today because it hasn't changed since printed... all you'll need to add to it are the invoices for the services that were carried out at your local garage, to form a complete service history.

You use the SEC code from the "last" service that was logged on the DSB.

There were 4 or 5 services carried out by MB before I purchased the car, they were shown to me on the computer in the dealership when deciding whether to buy or not.

I've owned the car 18 months and last September, a garage who I trust carried out the oil and filter service. They do not have access to the DSB.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and I wish I had the dealer print off the service history when I purchased the car.

Why they cannot email me a copy when they have my address, details of the finance agreement with them, I can email a copy of the V5 document, they have my email address !!

Sometimes companies hide behind data protection, and don't use common sense.

I'm assuming it will be in the book with the car records but then not everyone bothers. ;)
