Mercedes c220d service

But you said that you have booked the car in with Alex Crow so you don't need the Mercedes service booking!
Yes, I know but someone was telling me to go on that page and it’s always blank.

Car booked with Alex for second week August

Mercedes’ told me it’s 77500 miles or 5 years to do a gearbox service.

I don’t think the previous owner did a proper service or looked after the car properly.

The car was purchased last September from v12 sports and classics. Their AA reports are fake and should have had my own AA conducting a vehicle inspection.

Wouldn’t recommend buying from them at all.

The previous owner used cheap parts and tyres. The battery fitted in the car was Halfords make. End of the day, it is what it is 😢
Mercedes told you that the transmission (auto transmission, I presume, or is yours a manual box?) service interval is 75'000 miles? I've bought a 2018 E Class w213, with an automatic transmission. 100'000 Miles on the clock. I'm waiting for the full-service history to arrive from the dealer, and am forward planning, just in case. If what you are saying is true (and I'm not doubting you, just double checking) then, I will have at least 40'000 miles left before the next change is due. In any case, I will change all the fluids and filters myself after a few months, rather than having to rush things if the fluid hasn't ever been changed.
Thanks for your info! Justin

The ATF on your car should have been replaced for the first time in 2023, or at 77,500 miles, whichever occurred first. The service history printout will show when the ATF was last done.

Keep in mind that on some cars the service schedule says 'replace every....', while on others it will say 'replace once at....'.

Worth checking what is the recommended service schedule for your car.

Thanks Markjay. As presently I'm unable to get my hands on the genuine ex-MB service history for the car, because it lived happily in the UK for 2 years before migrating to Ireland, where it has remained since. It has presently 99,500 miles on the clock. If it has been properly serviced at 77'500, Hallejullah! I'm in the clear until 155'000 miles and given that my average is only about 7'000 per year, I have roughly 5 years before it needs changing again...I could easily see major changes in my own life before that happens!! But it seems to be very hard to get a simple this needs to be done at x miles / days and this needs to be done at Y miles / days.

Well, it should; however, the display will only be accurate IF whoever has serviced the car has correctly updated the menu. If it's always been serviced by a MB main dealer or a decent indie it should be correct but otherwise you're at the mercy of whatever the previous person has 'clicked' when resetting the menu. On an older car I wouldn't trust it unless there were paper records to back it up.

Find out what the previous service was meant to be , probably nothing more than an oil n filter change , have that done and your upto date . Service history can only be reset for the past not the future .

I go onto the book a mercedes service website , enter the reg n mileage and it tells you what ,in their eyes would need doing. 👍👍

I've just done that OneForTheRoad, but all it says is Service A, general check over, plus engine oil and filter change, Ad-Blue top up if needed. Service B lists bit more of the checking / changing, brake fluid, check all fluid levels, change oil and filter etc, but no mention of any transmission work. (unless it comes under the heading of " Check all fluid's", which I doubt very much, given the procedure.
Anyway, we will soldier on regardless!!!

£380 I think I paid for 9g . Without TC drain.

From what I've seen on YouTube of these "quickie" changes, they are only a 50% fluid change...none the less, I have seen posts where they are saying that this "quickie" change is all that's available now, be it from an independent or main dealership. I'm not exactly a big fan of them though. The only complicated thing I see about doing it yourself is this measuring device, with the 4 settings. So far I haven't managed to get a clear picture as to what is the function of each of the 4 settings.

On the Mercedes service website, when it gives you the price click on + Additional Items to see any items which are due at your car’s age and/or mileage (see photo below as displayed on a phone).

After clicking you’ll see ma breakdown of the additional items and the price of each - these are all included in the price you saw on the previous page, so the price quoted if the price to do everything which is due.

If the transmission fluid/service is due then it would be listed as an additional item. IMPORTANT: Please note that if an additional item was skipped during previous services then the online quote tool won’t know that and won’t say that it’s over due.
