Mercedes iPhone 4 Cradle

I have the phone prep in my E350 but I have used my Nokia N97 on bluetooth through the COMAND since I got the car.

However, as my new iPhone 4 arrives tomorrow, I though I would look into the "proper" cradle solution.

Any news on when an official MB cradle for the iPhone 4 will be available?

I have emailed thb Bury asking the same question - little point getting the phone until I can use it in my car .

From past experience , new cradles tend to come out 3-4 months after the phone .

I'll use it on bluetooth until I get a cradle - lived with the N97 on bluetooth for the last 4 months so I can use the iPhone 4 like this until a cradle shows up.

My Bury kit is Bluetooth too , but since I use the iPhone as my satnav I really need a cradle . I already have the 3G cradle and the original (2G) iPhone cradle , but this new one looks even thicker than the original .

Annoying that whenever they bring out a new phone they change the form factor just enough to need a new cradle

There are reports on the apple forum that the address book is not being downloaded from the iphone4 to the ntg2.5 command

Does anyone know if the address book I have downloaded to COMAND from my Nokia will still be in COMAND for me to use with my iPhone 4 until such a time as COMAND is updated? Or does it only work with the phone it came from?

Although my COMAND was updated at the dealer on Tuesday so hopefully it is more compatible now any way.

My contacts transferred across no problem at all.
I wasn't aware of any issue and just connected via bluetooth, added the contacts then run out of memory so wiped everything off. Then transferred all contacts again.
Everything is there all intact.

I received a reply from Bury this morning : they started development yesterday and will have the new cradle available in approx. 12 weeks .

Might look at getting the new phone next month then .

We'd resolved to get these at work but I'm seeing a lot of reports of it not working at all well as a phone. As the smartphone side of it is secondary (but still useful) to me, I'm a bit un-nerved by that.

E Sports Coupe is a W207 and has "NTG4-W212" COMAND - so it seems like it works with NTG4-W212.

It would be useful if anyone with a W204 (NTG4-W204) COMAND and Audio-20, anyone with NTG2.5 COMAND and Audio-20, and S/CL MY2010 (i.e facelift) NTG3.5 could check and post ! (I think thats all the units with built in bluetooth phone support).

Haven't tried copying contacts over yet (didn't have time to put it right if I lost those I have on COMAND already), but it did pair instantly to my iPhone 4 and worked perfectly using the contacts I have already got on COMAND.

Signal when in the car on bluetooth is as good as my Nokia was, but the reports of some poor signal issues when being handheld are true. That said, it does depend on you holding the bottom corner when making a call, and I don't naturally do that any way so not too bothered personally.

The pro's of it far outweigh the single negative I have found so far.

Looking forward to a proper cradle for the car though.

From what I understand the new Iphone 4 fits and works with the old (2G) iphone docking station from Apple LINK. I was just wondering if this is also the same for the MB (2G) Iphone cradle. Does the Iphone 4 fit into this cradle ?

Just for info, importing contacts from iPhone 4 to my COMAND works absolutely fine. I have seen a number of people reporting problems with this.

Just as information, this combination works fine, the only problem is that it is a tight fit. But a dremmel does wonders

I also deleted my contacts from command, and noticed that it is not possible with IOS4.0.1 to download the contacts from the Iphone 4 . But I believe that this problem should be solved in 4.1.

The car is a 2004 E class 320CDI. cradle type if for Nokia 6310i
