Mercedes late delivery...

Mercedes C Class
So I ordered the new Mercedes C class last week, a C220 diesel, few options with a cost of just over £35k. I was promised delivery for tomorrow, and even yesterday was given a call that the car would be arriving for its inspection at the dealership today and ready to be delivery to me on Friday (tomorrow).

Today I just get a text from the dealer saying it's now delayed by a week or two due to not getting on the ferry in time at Belgium...

Any idea what recourse I have here or what the procedure is here? I can't be without a car for a week as my current car is already being given to the buyer tomorrow...

Anyone else had this kind of problem?

That would be a great help if they could do that. Is it within their power to agree to that or is there a cost associated with it?

I know this is my first post on the forum, and I want to say in advance I am thankful for all your help and responses!

Perhaps, I'll visit there in person and talk to him as the request I feel would be better suited if I was to talk in person than on the phone.

Has this been granted for anyone else receiving late delivery?

Yes go in person, explain it to them and how you will be left out of pocket as you will need to hire a car.

They should have a demo or courtesy car

Hopefully the dealer will be able to help - otherwise, ask them if they are prepared to contribute towards cost of hiring a car. Always worth sorting things out amicably if possible … …

Mine was nearly a month late. I was provided with a fairly new loan car as soon as I explained that I'd sold my old car. No hassle whatsoever.

As others have said, be nice and they're generally helpful.

I went to Mercedes Birmingham, was nice (no reason not to be really) and they were happy to provide a loan car. But not until Friday evening, which means tomorrow and Friday with no car. Not very happy with this.

The most annoying part is I was told it would be okay to have one from early tomorrow morning, and only when on the 50 minute way home did I then get a text message to say actually it's not until late Friday now.

BTW, they said that the reason for the delay was due to an urgent factory recall for the tension belt, or torsion belt, can't remember the exact term.
