mercedes s320cdi (2005) egr help!!!!

hi all I'm new to this.. but desperately need help.

I've got a egr fault code, i get epc message on the dash I've taken the egr off gave it a good clean sand cleared the fault code, car drives luvly, when i drive around no fault code i bring the car home the fault same fault comes back epc light on.. i don't understand where to ask for help I've cleaned the egr valve out and put it back in.. also I've noticed even if the epc lightt is on sometimes the car still kicks down mostly when cold..and turbo and everything works luvly, but i jus don't understand why sometimes kick down and turbo works and other times nothing please someone help!! i understand the egr also has pipes but i can only locate the electric connection to the egr. if anyone can put up pictures or help me for the facelift s class id b so grateful...

the car is a 2005 s class w220 shape s320cdi…
