Hi All.

I'd like to fit the later instrument cluster and multi function steering wheel into my 1998 CLK320. I've recently fitted a comand head unit with CANbus adapter and I've got hold of the cluster from an AMG CLK55.
I believe the cluster just plugs straight in but will need to be recoded to the 320 engine.

What I need to know is how to wire the comand to the cluster to the steering wheel. I've done a search on the forums and believe there is a pdf floating around which would help so if any one has this or any other info I'd appreciate it.

Also, is there anything else I need other than a steering wheel and the air bag?

Many thanks

You need a wiring loom or two and a load of connectors and pins, plus a new airbag ring for the steering column.

I am attempting to mail the PDF to your hotmail account but I've been having intermittent problems with my ISP's mail servers since last night, will hopefully be with you shortly :)

you need:

- wheel
- airbag
- facelift airbag ring
- wiring to go to new horn connector
- wiring to go to canbus on comand
- yellow connector plug for airbag ring
- 2 black plugs for back of cluster
- cluster

watch out for the comand not switching off correctly when you've done this. i had this problem and ended up fitting a relay to prevent this.

you will need to get the cluster coded for 320 engine, fuel tank size, and also unlock the comand feature on it so you get the satnav display in the cluster

Do you have any part numbers for those items? The cluster, wheel and airbag are fairly straightforward and I already own a cluster but the other bits a slightly more tricky. I've played the part-number-lottery with the parts dept before and it's always useful to go armed with facts :)
