Got a service on the E55 booked for next week and thought I'd get the advisory on the recent MOT sorted at the same time.
Been browsing for a while looking for some decent front discs and pads and I think I struck lucky.
Mintex front discs £97 a pair off an eBay seller
New Mercedes E-Class W211 E55 AMG Kompressor Genuine Mintex Front Brake Discs x2 | eBay

Brembo front pads from ECP for £71 using their discount. They were cheaper than Carparts4less on this occasion.

So its a full service and new discs and pads for me next Wednesday:rock:

I put Brembo pads and discs on my C55 recently. Good quality kit as you expect from Brembo and they do what it says on the tin. No odd squeaks, rattles or vibrations.

They have arrived.:bannana: Didn;'t realise these discs were so heavy compared to the W210 E280 ones I replaced a few years ago.

Surprised they are not handed. The pattern layout of the holes seem to be the same on both discs.

They look huge my man.

Ant.

^The hole pattern is the same on the existing discs Ant.
Yep, they are pretty big at 360mm across

If it helps anyone in the future, the Part number of the Mintex brakes are

MDC1666 front disc's 360mm
MDB2614 front pads
MWI0195 Right ft ind lead
MWI0503 Left frt ind lead

MDC1789 rear disc's 330mm
MDB2621 rear pads
MWI0195 rear wear lead

I stand to be corrected but I think the holes are there to let hot gases out rather than let cool air in. Thus, if that's the case it wouldn't matter which way the holes are aligned?

I think I misled with my post. It was more regarding my lack of knowledge about these things. I wasn't saying the discs were wrong.

Stupidly I just assumed that there would be a left and a right with holes in opposite pattern.

I got black diamond grooved doscs for my tranny a few years ago and they were handed left and right.

Ant.

Ant, I'm not sure why they are all not handed (as per my post above) and it would seem to be the obvious set up. Maybe it doesn't matter but looks better if they are handed? After all I suspect all drilled discs (for the road) just let hot air/heat escape and rain water too?

Think I'll get a price to have my lips drilled & grooved then. :D

(Just said that before anyone else got it in. :dk:)

Sometimes we don't need to turn on the central heating in the house, in winter! :D

This is correct for the 55k cars anyway.
