I have an ML250 Bluetec which I purchased in May 2012. It has done 46,000 miles.

In March 2015 I had it in for a service. I noticed immediately that there was a constant smell of fuel. After a few days I spotted large puddles of fuel where the car had been parked. I took the car back in 5 days after the service to be told that the fuel filter was faulty and that it was leaking diesel.

The other day the engine management light came on with no error message. I have taken the car in today and have been told that I need a new temperature sensor and Lambda sensor - total costs for parts and labour £558

Annoyingly, my warranty ran out last month.

However, my question is this....

Could the fuel leak back in March be a cause for the faulty temperature sensor and lambda sensor or is there an expectation that both these parts are likely to break after about 46,000 miles?

Would really love to know the answer on this.

Thanks
