When cold, the auto box is very sluggish, and seems to slip a lot, but once the car has done a few miles and warmed up, things seem to be ok.
Experience with torque converters on plant etc makes me think fluid shortage, as when the fluid has warmed it also expands slightly increasing the volume.
Now an exploration round the engine bay reveals what looks like a g/box dipstick tube close to the bulkhead on the o/s, but the cap on the top says ''MB workshop only''
, and theres no dipstick under the cap. Anyone know if this is the gearbox filler/dip stick tube, and what type and grade of oil the g/box uses? TIA.
