As my drive is very steep i apply the parking brake rather than just leaving the auto box in Park.

It has now started sticking on.

The brakes release enough for the vehicle to move but the warning light stays on and a buzzer sounds when you move the vehicle.

Is the problem likely to be under the dash with the release system or in the brake drums or cables? :dk: :wallbash:

Welcome to the forum.

The return spring that pulls the pedal back to the off position can get weak over time, try pulling the pedal up, and if the light goes out the return spring is your problem.

OK Thanks will try in the morning and let you know

Question asked at 1.11AM on a Sunday morning. Answered at 1.16AM. Not bad for a friendly little forum.

Well done Carat.

:thumb: Thanks you were spot on!

I,ve now oiled the "Y" joint under the vehicle and the ratchet mechanism under the dash. Light now goes out straight away.:bannana:

hi, i have the same problem , when releaseing the parking brake pull the peddle back with the toe of you foot this worked for me till i got the spring sorted out..

I added a spring around the foot pedal cable on my W203, literally over the cable so it pressed where the cable anchors, and pushes the yoke into the "off" position.
Prior to that, I was pulling the pedal up with my toes. The pedal does drag a bit on the carpet though. But its all snappy now!
