hi all im new to this site and this is my first post so i hope im pitching in the right area for some help/advise
right..iv just purchased a 2000 ml 270 cdi manual transmission when key is turned to position 2 no lights on dashboard work except 1 battery light i mean nothing i cant even read mileage,time,nothing works at all on speedo and car wont start BUT there is a switch under cd player which some1 has bodged up car starts when pressed and key turned to position 2 if that makes any sense looks like to me they have short cutted the ignition switch, is this a common problem??how do i go about fixing??
secondly once car is started and now it gets messy
there is no drive at all i can click up and down gears no problem while started and it wont move even when car is switched off and in gear car will still roll as if its in neutral.
before i go spend £1000's by the sound of it im hoping somebody can give an idea as to what is going on here could it be an electrical problem which has cut dashboard out and affected driveabilty i really dont know
