ML CDI BAS/ESP Light

Hi, Can anyone help? Just bought an 2001 ML270 CDI and had a few problems. Initially after collecting the car (bought at auction!) the vehicle would not accelerate properly and the BAS/ESP light was on. It was diagnosed as an air mast meter and a replacement cured the acceleration problem but not the BAS/ESP light. I was then told it was a brake light switch and had this replaced. Still the BAS/ESP light comes on after 5 mins of driving. Any other ideas?

Could be a wheel speed sensor or a dirty connection at the sensor.

The abs wiring loom shorts out on the chassis rails at the rear. This is a fairly common problem.Remove the rear wheels and trace the loom back from the speed sensor looking for chafing.
