:wallbash:Hi everyone,

i have a problem with one of my mirrors the nearside one, the heater or dimmer does not work however it folds in and our and you can adjust it, but when you put the heated rear window switch on it only clears the rear window and o/s mirror, also when you dim the interior mirrors at night this does nor work either, also when i drive off the anti jack system does not lock the doors when you go over ten mph .

any ideas would be grateful.:dk:

The auto-locking is usually selectable on the instrument cluster. Have you checked this?

On my S211 and previous C class only the interior and off-side mirror dimmed.

Just joined the forum and am scanning through but thought I'd pitch in here. I just bought an ML270 and was surprised to find that both door mirrors do not get cleared when you turn on the heated rear screen. On looking in the book it says that the mirror heating comes on '..automatically at low temperatures...'. It does not say how low it has to be and it also doesn't indicate if this is linked into the heated rear screen at all - the description of the heated rear screen does not mention the mirrors. So far we've only got down to 8.5c in my neck of the woods so I assume that is not a 'low temperature' but it is a pain because a heated mirror will clear condensation and rain which will occur at much higher temperatures.

I also found that the auto-locking mechanism can be disabled by holding down the switch on the centre console for a few seconds (in the unlock direction). Check the book, but I think to re-enable it you hold it down in the lock position for a few seconds. Might be worth a check if you still have the problem.

Finally, my book says that only the rear view and driver's side mirrors are dimmed. Not that I can tell the difference between dimmed and undimmed...My car is April 2003, in case that makes a difference.

Thanks for the info... any ideas how to get the mirror glass off

You can tell the difference between a dimmable mirror and one that doesn't cos the dimmable ones have a black plastic seal? around the edge that the nearside, undimmed one doesn't have... well on a CLK anyway :)
