ML270 Power Down / No acceleration or turbo?

Hi all...

Picked up my ML last week. All was fine but then for some reason yesterday the power was totally lacking. We did a town and motorway run and there appears to be a problem...

The car seems to not want to rev past 2200-2500 rpms. It feels like the turbo isn't there. On motorways it takes a day and a night to get from 40-70. At one point, doing 70, the mway took a slight slope upwards. I buried my foot to the floor and the speedo dropped to 65, which was very concerning. I can't hear anything, but it feels like the car is pulling in 5th from 20mph upwards and is taking all night, and I can't feel a turbo surge or anything.

Are all 270s this slow?!?! I think it needs to go to a specialist but I really hope it isn't a gearbox or turbo problem. It just passed a 12month MOT on Wednesday so it shouldn't be knackered!!!

I've had something similar.
Get the car checked on a STAR diagnostcs before you waste money on guessing what to do.
Mine was a faulty MAF - replaced with MB part & been okay since.

Also, look into doing the EGR mod - info on here (& other reputable sites!)

Jane you are a star - there's a Merc dealer just down the road so am going to take it there Friday. Was really hoping it wasn't mechanical so let's hope it's a sensor or something.

I spent about two hours on the m25 yesterday with one hand on the wheel and one hand on the bl00dy cruise control stalk thing worrying I had put it into some restriction I couldn't work out!

Aside from that, the car is great, really enjoying the seats and the space. parking is a bit of a beast as it has a huge chrome bar that holds a spare wheel on the back!
