I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but as from February 27th, it looks like

Motorists caught using their mobile phones while driving will have three points put on their licence.
The new law will come into force on February 27.

If there was anyone out there to catch the drivers before they have a fatal accident.

No one seems to care about this law (apart from me who's spent a stack of cash on integrated phones in Mercs !) - and I doubt 'joe bloggs' will care until they know someone who has been done for breaking it ..

Stopping on zigzags seems to have the same set of the population ignoring the law - thats always been 3pts / £60

About time too IMO. I see so many people yapping away, not concentrating on what they're doing.
Bluetooth kits don't cost the earth, there's no excuse really. I put a very nice Pioneer MP3 stereo in my merc, complete with bluetooth, it cost well under £300, and killed two birds with one stone. (My Audio 10 cd had a strong dislike of CD-Rs )

Sounds great but will it be worth the Police actually prosecuting you for it.
The amount of paperwork the police have to produce for a single prosecution is ridiculous and I can't blame them for them letting things like this go by.

If it's clear-cut and the motorist has the choice between a ticket and a costly court appearance then they will probably take the former IMHO.

However, I can't help thinking this will just make people sneakier....
