Mod my S65

Hi all , hope u don't mind me jumping in here and asking a question!

I have an 04 CL65 and was considering the DMS remap. I seen from the tread that one of you guys has had it done on a S65. Did the remap affect the turbos or anything adversely ? I posed a tread a while back and someone said that a guy on here had it done and it caused problems with the turbos etc. Any help appreciated.

Also is the remap really noticeable in comparison to a stock CL65 .....is it worth the money!

Thanks

A few years ago, a member did have a CL65 which I think may have been modified by DMS, and he did indeed have problems with the turbos. Whether the two were related, I couldn't say.

Search for posts by Maff, for example:

I had the DMS remap, worked fine for me no issues at all. Was a significant difference in throttle response and you can really feel the extra power too. I'd recommend it for another S65 (W221) but can't say on your CL65 (previous model I assume).

Hi m8, to be fair these guys cars are waaay faster down Bruntingthorpe than a stock E55 for example. These are properly laser verified timing guns, and lopes has run 191. I could barely make 181 in my beast. I am however pretty overweight (and my car is too) by comparison. :D

I tune a few of my other cars and I don't see the value in some of these mods for the intended purpose. Ricky and others track their cars so certain mods are required for repeatable performance.

One thing I won't do is invest a huge bag of cash in cosmetic mods that add nothing which it appears a lot of tuners offer. The problem with the S65 is that there is no space to do anything without removing the engine which I think kind of limits most of the tuners out there who are more plug and play so to speak.

I may just get my car reflashed again and live with that. Underpowered of course but liveable.. ;)

Hi LargerL,
For the 65 I would have a Kleemann remap, upgrade the pumps and fit 3" exhaust with 200 cats with no baffles in the back boxes.

Mark.

Thanks for the replies Lagerlout and Bobby Dazzler.

U assume correct Lagerlout my CL is the 215 body, but I am not too sure if there is much different in the engines except post 2010 models.

Was tempted a few times to get the DMS remap but the posts on turbo issues kind of made me a bit hesitant. The electronic limiter is killing me at the minute!

DMS can remove the limiter and not remap the car - FYI.

Well, looks like Kleeman for me. Still don't think it's enough HP ;) but it should get me to 740 HP for a lot more reasonable price than the other tuners and a significant enough hike for the cash outlay.

One point with Kleemann their ECU upgrade is excellent but normally only delimits to 186mph you have to insist on a full delimit.

Look forward to the 'results' at the next VMax.
