drop it!

 I'm looking to lower my w201, got 16" rims on it how much can I drop it by and what kind of lowering springs should I be looking at guys?

Having read through the post some if the mods listed here are hardly "modifications" one guy claims to of fitted Bosch plugs, whoo that's really radical.

Keep it original, all the things your guys are bolting screwing and tapeing to your car are going to take a real car enthusiast forever to remove when you sell your ride.

Hey you know iam only kidding you ruin your car if you want to.

Reading this thread has just made me think about whether to inform my insurance company about my upgrade to 18" MB wheels. Is this necessary - after all they haven't made it go any quicker and actually make the handling safer.. :D

Hi Bpsorrel I'm no expert on insurance but as I understand it, even though the car is safer it could cost you more because they could assess the car a higher risk to theft based on it is more desirable, we may not agree but that's the theory

If that's the case, then 16s are going back on!!

I am alos not sure whether it would increase your premium or not, but not telling them gives them the get out they need when you claim, and they don't want to pay you.

telling them does not mean they will charge more. After all, you may have had to change wheels due to a bit of kerb damage, which you decided you didn't want to claim on insurnace for. Replacing may have been cheaper than repair kind of thing?

And you also have the option, if they wish to increase premiums, to move to a different insurance company who may be cheaper anyway.

I would tell them.

Yer good call, think on the positive side, if you done like their premium you can shop around.

Most of the time I don't think it would make much difference, it a bit like house insurance, if you claime for a very expensive watch that say it's bit insured coz you didn't tell us even though you hav a reciept and it may be a small part of the over all claime -

READ THE SMALL PRINT - come to think of it if the small print is so important why dint they write it BIG

Have clipped a black (colour matched) bic pen undr the drivers sun visor!!

I wasn't quite as brave with my mods...I went for a blue pen clipped into the pen holder in the glove box!!
