mono wiper problem !!!!!!!

hi - got the mechanism out. can't see a way of disconnecting the motor and the 'a' and 'b' bolts don't want to budge at all without moving the wiper arm from its parked position. any ideas?

Slacken nut 1 by countering the force of your spanner with your left hand as demonstrated below…

Undo nut 2 as illustrated below with the use of a vice grip/mole grip…

Thanks Dec. Done the trick. Had to apply some wd40 to the bolts to get them to budge. All sorted now.

Considering the bolts were so tight, I can't think how the wiper managed to move from it's default park position.

Possibly the wiper blade was frozen/snowed to the windscreen and the motor was switched on, the motor is very powerful so something has to give, sometimes one of the nuts, 1 or 2 slips, as in your case or teeth inside the wiper motor gearbox are stripped.

Also, a lack of lubrication on the sliding mechanism can cause the same fault, if yours hasn’t been lubricated recently then you should do it as soon as possible. See… YouTube - ‪Maintenance viper on a Mercedes R129‬‏
