Spend £60 at Morrisons and get a voucher for 15p off every litre of fuel. Canny little tickle when filling a big tank

I wonder if there is a limit on litres purchased?
Can see a queue of HGVs otherwise!

Yes I believe it's 100 litres but I do fill my vans up when the offers are on. One took 93 lts

I wonder if "fuel" includes LPG? My local Morrisons has an LPG pump. Oh, just worked it out. My LPG tank only takes 48 litres max. 48 x £0.15 = £7.20. Spend £60 including stuff I buy and don't need or use, save at best 10% overall. Wonder how much the in-store prices have increased during the fuel promotion. Might work for some, but it's not sufficient of an incentive to get me scurrying round there to queue up for hours to get some fuel.

My cars always had supermarket fuel and when it Europe so right odd ball stuff...

Seems to like it what ever..

I've 50 miles showing on my range and a 18 gallon tank ready to fill. Spoke to Mrs A210 and asked her to go shopping tomorrow :)

I have just put a tankfull of Shell V power in my 320CDi today as I was told its better for the car (but not my pocket) do any of you think this is true considering the price difference,149.9 as opposed to 140.9 ?

^ My car has never had any V max, V power V anything.

Its on close on 135K miles now and goes better than ever.

So I think it would be in your 'head' if it makes you feel better.....

Joking aside I do remember a comparison and something like a Mistubishi FQ300 did gain around 5bhp over normal fuel (petrol) but doubt I would norice 5bhp...

Thanks for that,I have not noticed any difference today so I think that will be the last time.:thumb:

realised post was the subject of ongoing litigation so thought I better remove, but it showed the head from a Subaru Impreza that had been run on nothing but supermarket fuel and the engine failed at 38,500 miles it is truly shocking.

Sorry can't share

Ian: When the case is over it will be interesting to read the report.

I must admit to sometimes enjoy my ignorance, because it means I worry less. I and most motorists fill up wherever it's convenient or cheap. Until I read of a tidal wave of customers complaining about failed engines I suspect I'll carry on as I am. :)

There is a standard for diesel fuel quality - EN590 - and it should be displayed on pumps. This is meant to ensure all diesel (supermarket or otherwise) meets a minimum standard. And I'm guessing there's something similar for petrol.
There's very few refineries in the UK, so all fuel must come from largely the same places. But the way it is handled/managed/stored probably has a lot to do with varying end results, I suspect.
Still, 15p off a litre makes it attractive if you've got a local Morrisons.

PS I was travelling through Belgium/Holland at the weekend and while diesel is roughly same cost as ours, their petrol was up at €1.79/litre. Ouch.

The attractiveness of the offer maybe wears off after you're sat in a huge queue of "lemmings" for 30 minutes? :dk:

Maybe those 38000 miles were driven flat out everywhere? It was an impreza after all!
