It's amp and sub install time for the C250, and I'm at somewhat of a puzzle as to where to start mounting stuff.

The sub I've more or less decided will be placed in the centre, up at the back of the boot, firing towards the rear (saw the stealthbox option, but frankly could not justify the £150 asking price for it)

Currently I see 2 viable options for the amp, the first being down in the cubby hole on the right, where it is nicely visible with it's lighting and tasty looking internals, but still fairly protected, or alternatively under the boot floor in the spare wheel well (as per Jimmy's 250 estate, I believe). I'm not too keen on mounting it on the back of the seat, with all the stuff I carry in my boot it would be dead within a few weeks.

Just wondering if anyone else had any other interesting suggestions?

You could go against the science of the cooling fins on the amp (heat rises) and mount it upside down under the rear shelf. Lots of people will tell you this is wrong, but I also think the same people would tell you mounting under the floor is wrong.

I have had mine under the floor for plenty long enough to know it doesn't kill it straight away!

Sounds like you want it on display though, so I would put it on one of ethe sides or in the right hand side cubby.

Or you could go crazy like Alps, have a false floor, so amps out of view day to day, but have inserts that lift out to display your amp when you go to shows!

In regard to upside-down on the rear deck and the cooling fins argument, my previous amp (now in the fiancee's Polo) spent a couple of years in that position when in my 405...that was 3 years ago, and it's still going strong.

In the same vein, there's plenty of air space under the boot floor, and clearly your installation has proved that this is not a problem.

The more I look at it, the more mounting it in the cubby hole (as per our SL500) seems to be the logical choice, albeit with loss of the handy storage area. I'm not sure I want to go into the tasks of creating false floors or other enclosures to hold it, just as I'm not really prepared to shell out £150 for an enclosure for the sub...
