These wheels must fit somehow.
Am trying to email him but i dont speak very good german and he doesnt speak very good english!

They are either a custom build, or they still protrude beyond the arches even with silly stretched tyres on.

send me what he has sent you with his email and I will email him in German if you like..this is of interest to me as I have some e500 wheels I want to put on my coupe so the issues may well be similar

You can see the stretch in the top picture, it looks to be about an inch each side of the tyre.

only way you can get those wheels to fit is by Milling the insides.

I wouldnt imagine there is a lot of stretch, only a tiny amount.
Hes running 235/45/17 on the 9.5j fronts and 265/40/17 on the 11j rears.

Heres his original thread:

mattc, you have PM.

Ive found a place that'll do this for me. After looking at the wheels however, taking away 10mm is the most that can be done safely in my view.
There is a lot of meat on the inside but im more concerned about meat between the wheel nut seating hole and the rear hole. 10mm is the most i would mill in that respect.

However, if you look at these pictures, 10mm just doesnt look like it would be enough.

i've seen wheels like this on a VW golf Mk4 they skimmed the inside to get the offset right, but as you say they are Prone to cracking where the bolts go. Personally i would go for skimming the insides 10mm and then reducing the lip by either 0.5 or 1 inch.

Can the milling be done without damaging the outer face? Mine are mint and would like them to stay that way.

Perhaps it's just my eyesight/optical illusion, but the rear wings on the German one look a little more flared?

Id say he has either milled the back face down or has used a slightly different lip... readily available in Germany..

A coule of people have mentioned the lip and Ikeep thinking on the front face.. what bit do you mean Jay? the hub?

confused as usual, matt:confused:

I guess "Outer Rim" would be a better description...but as Jay says...three piece wheels, they come apart and you can build them back up again at a different width/offset as required.

Not cheap if you need to pay for it, time consuming to do yourself, but worth the effort IMO.

I've emailed the bloke who tells me the wheels have an ET of 17 so they just fit straight on:eek: . he sent a picture that shows the tyre sitting flush with the wheel but they do stick out a bit. I would post it but its just over a Mb - If anyone can point me in the direction of some free compression software I will try and reduce it.

Just reduce the size of it when saving - use Photoshop or similar if you have it installed!

I was thinking, tyre brands differ in size.
Maybe my goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's are oversized?
They have a kerb protector which does stick out a bit.

Right, have seen these wheels on a 124 cabriolet and they were sitting INSIDE the arch, werent sticking out at all.
Had a chat with the guy and hes a top bloke, he'll help me fit mine after the new year as hes going away in a few days.
:D

Out of interest, was it an Azurite blue 124 cab?
