Various.
When I turned my computer on just now I found all my bookmarks have vanished. Naturally I have no record of them.

Mozzilla Firefox. Is there a way to get them back?

del,

I am computer stupid. Can you tell me how or point me to somewhere which explains how to do that with idiot proof instructions?

Is it a big deal to do? ARE the bookmarks recoverable?

Thanks.

Oh, what a thing it is to be computer stupid.

I found that and am stil puzzling how I "Start the Firefox or Mozilla Suite Profile Manager."

I'm going to HATE myself if I can't recover my bookmarks. They've been built up over a few years and I'm sure I'll never find some of the sites again.

This happened to me a while ago with firefox,Sadly never got them back and had to start from scratch as I remember.Does help if you occasionally back up your bookmarks just in case.

Start the Profile Manager by opening the Start/Run box and typing in "firefox -P" (without the quotes!)

Well, I've found the bookmarks and copied & pasted them somewhere safe so losing them is no longer a worry. FF seems to keep backup copies which go back 5 days. That is a huge relief. It is a complete PITA not having bookmarks, even for regularly visited sites.

The bookmarks are in the file "bookmarksbackup.default" in w1ld78xa, which is the only file that comes up when I run c:\Documents and Settings\XXXX XXXX\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

I now can't open Firefox. Everytime I try I get the message "Firefox is already running but it is not responding. To open a new window you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."

I've restarted several times with no joy. I've also uninstalled FF and reinstalled the latest version but I still get the same message.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

You're nearly there! Fiddling with the Profile Manager has done this. Fix here

Oh dear...... I'm going to enjoy this.

You could always switch to Internet Explorer - that works pretty well :D

Andy

PS, Glad you got it fixed neilrr
