With my only day off work this splendid bank holiday Yesterday I thought I'd take me and my Lady for a run in the car.

We set off From Glasgow, up Loch Lomond, over the A83 to Inverary (taking in the spectacular rest and be-thankful pass.

Leaving Inverarry, we headed over to Dalmally, then onto Tyndrum and over the A82 via Glencoe. Naturally my stomach got the better of me so we stopped and munched a burger at and I took the following pictures.

From here is was a trip up the A82, on Ft William then on the majestic "Road to the Isles". This has to be a major acheivement the upgrades done to this road.

We then headed back to Glasgow, but rather turn off for Loch Lomond headed down to Callander, through the Torrosachs, she made the most lovely dinner, then I headed home.

Magnificent countryside! I am now champing at the bit to see these places in May.

Thank you.

I love the scenery Steve. :)
I'm guessing everything has been patched up between you and your Girlfriend. :thumb:

Its a magical place, I love going up there, usually I go alone but was nice to bring Mrs *** along. She liked it too. All is going well I think.

No bother, just hope the weather is good for you. When the sun shines there is nothing really to touch it. I've been lucky this month, 2 days rota'd off work and have been able to go for a drive (which is why I bought the 211, long distance driving machine)

thats made me mind up, going to try for end of the month, 2 nights in bowness then 3 nights bonny Scotland. put the neeps and tatties on, the english are coming to get yee :bannana:

The weekend after next is a GTG in Stirling. Have a look at the link in my signature.

Thanks Steve! I love that scenery! Back in the late 80s I bought a place in Kingussie (near Aviemore) and despite the 600 mile run from where I lived, I made the journey every couple of weeks 'cos I loved it there so much!

Have a cousin living in Dunfermaline, so must get up in the summer for a nice drive! :)

Its a lovely run to Kingussie. Its more covered off in this thread, heading from Ft William to Invergarry you take a left and head up the A86. At Ft William to go to Mallaig you follow the road to the Isles (A830).

The other way to Aviemore which is very scenic in its own right is to head up the A9. Past Pitlochary its becomes very nice and fun road when its quiet.

And do not delay it, come up and drive.

Lovely scenery !

That is a drive and a half , there and back in a day .

That was my route!! Lovely fast road that A9! :)

Most memorable experience was one sunday, going back home, about 5 miles out of Aviemore my exhaust dropped off - the whole thing!! And, to make it worse, I had my ex gf's dog in the car!! 9 hours of raucous noise on the way back, watching the dog cover his ears was actually funny in the end!!

My wife keeps on about going to Scotland (for some reason, Russians believe it's a really cool place! :D ) so I think this year we definately will! :)

yeah, I thought that too! Lucky b****d!!! :D
