Loving the attention to detail on this project!

I really wanted to do the same with my headlights, but wouldn't dare to try splitting/resealing them DIY fashion ...

Wonderful project! :thumb:

I know what you mean but the bodyshop have done this many times and know what they are doing with them. They did a great job in fairness to them.

can you show us your new wheels yet?
Did you tweak tyhe block to match the looks or is it stock?

Engine is still stock at the moment. This will be a later project.
Wheels are still being manufacturer but this is what they will look like.

A nod towards BBS LM's

Whilst this project is not my bag there clearly is a lot of attention to detail and it's certainly not being thrown together.

Looking forward to seeing this finished - great stuff

Choosing the right wheel and design was as important as any other aspect of this project but I'm happy with the final choice and I hope it was the right call.

I understand that this project isn't for everybody but I really do appreciate all your comments. I have seen a few similar cars thrown together as you rightly pointed out but that is not for me. The objective here is to start with what is already a great car and try to make it even greater, not ruin it.

Thanks again guys.

Rudy:
I have to say, you certainly aren't cutting corners with this project - nothing is left to chance from an aesthetic perspective, right down to the beautiful wheels - but I need to ask - why are you going to such huge lengths?
Are you going to show the vehicle or is it just for 'cruising'.
You are full on with this and you obviously won't get your money back on it when you sell it, so I am curious?

F1BHP, I do not have the exact weights but I think that they could be just a touch lighter once the tyres are on, so overall not much change in weight.

Zoros, I'm doing this because it's how I do my projects, I like things to be just right and I don't cut corners. I might take it to shows and use it on the odd occasion as it's not my daily driver. It's not to sell and make money on it. But if I ever decide to than I'm sure the right person will appreciate what it is and what has gone into it.
I have seen some that have been, with all due respect, thrown together on an SL 500 base car and they get reasonable money. This is on a true AMG car so the pedigree is still there and I'm sure will reflect the the value accordingly.

I will post a few more pics later in daylight before it was transported to the trimmers for the next stage. Still some bits to finish off on the bodywork but nothing major. These will be done when it's back from the trimmers so as not to hold them up.

Sorry but I don't like the fog/DRL in the front bumper. They look very dated in my opinion. Are you doing anything with the exhaust tips?

F1BHP, you are so right about the fog lights. In fact e took them off and are going to replace the mesh and leave it car without them. We were not sure about this but we tried and they did not look right. You have to try to find out :-)

Exhaust tips are AMG but not sure on whether to do the insides black and leave just the outside polished. Still thinking about that bit.

Thanks for your comments, appreciate it.

I think inside black on the tips as they will only get sooty anyway.

I know a lot of r230 won't agree with me but I really do like the sharp 'chiseled' look of the r230 facelift.
Nice project by the way.
